Nonprofit Directory / Nonprofit Profile
CASA of Collin County trains and supports volunteers to serve as court-appointed advocates who provide powerful best-interest advocacy and meaningful connections for children in the child welfare system who have experienced abuse, abandonment, or neglect.
CASA of Collin County is on the frontline of services for children removed from their homes due to abuse and neglect and placed in the child welfare system. With a child’s best interests and protection at the forefront, CASA of Collin County is appointed by District Court Judges as the child’s Guardian ad Litem. Volunteer advocates visit with their assigned child regularly to ensure their safety and that their needs are being met. CASA of Collin County has served over 13,000 children over the past 34 years with quality advocacy. Every child deserves a safe place to grow, dream, and thrive.
CASA’s only program is our Court-Appointed Child Advocacy Program, which was founded in 1991 and remains the only court-mandated child advocacy program in Collin County. Our dedicated volunteers play a vital role in providing testimony to judges about what is best for each child, serving as the eyes and ears of the court.
Each volunteer undergoes a thorough background check and screening process, followed by 40 hours of pre-service training. This training, spread over several weeks, covers topics such as child abuse law and how to effectively testify in court. Once trained, volunteers are paired with a staff member who provides ongoing support and supervision. Our staff ensures that volunteers have the guidance they need to advocate for the child’s best interests, making sure the child’s voice is heard and their needs are fully met.
