More Than an Internship
This summer, more than 100 interns from across the country, representing 10 Frisco companies and organizations, are experiencing Frisco in a way few interns ever get to experience a city.
The Frisco Chamber’s new Frisco Talent Experience (FTE) was created with a simple goal: help college interns working in Frisco feel connected to the community around them and inspired to come back.
When young professionals choose where to begin their careers, they’re not just choosing a job. They’re choosing a community. Through FTE, interns are discovering what makes Frisco a place where people want to live, work, and build their future.
Building Connections from Day One
Led by the Chamber’s Frisco Young Professionals (FYP), the program brings interns together throughout the summer for a series of curated experiences designed to help them build relationships, develop professionally, explore the city, and engage with the community. Each participant received an FTE t-shirt and an invitation to spend the summer experiencing Frisco beyond the walls of their internship.
The summer kicked off with a welcome event alongside Frisco Young Professionals, giving interns an opportunity to start building their network from day one. Since then, participants have explored The Star, home of the Dallas Cowboys World Headquarters and Practice Facility, and connected with peers from across industries and organizations.
Learning...then doing.
One of the program’s most impactful experiences took place during the Chamber’s recent State of Education Luncheon. Before the event, interns participated in a networking workshop led by Dr. Trapper Pace, where they learned practical strategies for building professional relationships, starting conversations, and creating meaningful connections.
Then came the real-world application.
Following the workshop, interns joined more than 250 business and community leaders at the State of Education Luncheon, where they had the opportunity to put their new networking skills into practice. They met local leaders, expanded their professional networks, and heard firsthand how Frisco ISD is preparing students to be future-ready.
The experience was especially meaningful because it connected two important conversations: talent development and community development. Interns heard from Superintendent Dr. Todd Fouche and a panel of Frisco ISD students who shared their educational journeys and aspirations for the future. The luncheon served as a powerful reminder that today’s students, and today’s interns, are tomorrow’s workforce. (Read our State of Education recap here.)
Through the Eyes of an Intern:
"As one of the interns who got to attend this event I'm so thankful to the Frisco Chamber of Commerce, Frisco Talent Experience #FTE, and Dr. Trapper Pace for teaching us some inside tricks for networking as well as the enormous opportunity to get to connect with so many industry leaders! The events are such valuable opportunities to be able to expand our knowledge base and build meaningful relationships with people whose experiences, insights, and ideas can open door s to new opportunities and collaborations."
A Summer Full of Experiences
But the summer is far from over.
Upcoming experiences include a FIFA World Cup Watch Party in Frisco Square, a CEO Panel Luncheon featuring business leaders sharing lessons learned throughout their careers, a volunteer service project with Frisco Family Services, networking events with Frisco Young Professionals, and a summer wrap-up celebration at the PGA District. Along the way, interns will explore Frisco’s business community, entertainment destinations, nonprofit organizations, and professional networks.
Investing in Talent Today for a Stronger Tomorrow
Programs like FTE support a larger goal shared by businesses, educators, and community leaders across Frisco: attracting, developing, and retaining talent. By helping interns build connections and experience the community firsthand, we’re not just creating a memorable summer; we’re introducing future professionals to a city where they may choose to launch their careers.
