Legislative Primer: Looking Ahead to the 87th Session

The Frisco Chamber of Commerce live-streamed a legislative preview on Tuesday, November 17, 2020. The Legislative Primer, presented by Garver LLC, included a panel consisting of Senator Angela Paxton, Texas Senate District 8, Representative Jared Patterson, Texas House District 106, and Mayor Jeff Cheney, City of Frisco. Chris Wallace, President/CEO of the North Texas Commission moderated the discussion.

In past years, the Frisco Chamber of Commerce has held a Legislative Luncheon prior to each legislative session. This year, audience members watched on the Frisco Chamber’s YouTube channel. The Legislative Primer can be viewed here.

The conversation included topics regarding the upcoming legislative session, including local and state election results, redistricting, taxpayer-funded lobbying, local control, and COVID-19 pandemic recovery.

The 87th Texas Legislative Session will begin on Tuesday, January 12, 2021. To date, hundreds of bills, constitutional amendments, and resolutions have been pre-filed.
