Not These Kids, Not These Days!

Frisco Chamber Welcomes Superintendent Dr. Todd Fouche at State of Education

If there was one word to describe today’s State of Education Luncheon, it would be energy.

More than 250 business and community leaders gathered alongside Frisco ISD students, educators, and community partners for what felt less like a traditional luncheon and more like a pep rally for the future of Frisco. The event marked Dr. Todd Fouche’s first State of Education address as Superintendent of Frisco ISD, and from the moment guests arrived, it was clear this would be a celebration of the students, schools, and opportunities that make Frisco special.

Special Guests

Attendees were welcomed by Frisco ISD cheerleaders and athletes who greeted guests with school spirit and enthusiasm. Adding to the excitement, two surprise visitors, SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star from Universal Kids Resort, stopped by to pose for photos and help kick off the festivities. Guests were also treated to a performance by the Emerald Elite Dance Team from Lebanon Trail High School.

Through the Eyes of Students

Perhaps the most powerful moment of the afternoon came when seven Frisco ISD students took the stage to share their personal stories. Representing different schools, programs, interests, and pathways across the district, they showcased the many ways students are discovering their strengths and preparing for their futures. Rather than simply presenting data or statistics, Dr. Fouche wanted the community to experience the district through the eyes of its students.

Dr. Todd Fouche delivers his first State of Education address as Superintendent of Frisco ISD, sharing the vision for ensuring every student leaves Frisco ISD future ready.

From ISM, to YEA!, to Go Baby Go!

One by one, they spoke about the teachers, programs, experiences, and opportunities that have shaped their educational journeys. Their stories highlighted the many pathways available to students in Frisco ISD and served as a reminder that education is about much more than academics. It’s about helping young people discover their strengths, pursue their passions, and prepare for whatever comes next. Hearing directly from students reinforced the impact Frisco ISD has on individual lives and offered a powerful glimpse into the future of our community.

That message carried throughout Dr. Fouche’s remarks.

Kids These Days!

He challenged the audience to rethink the common narrative about today’s generation of students, sharing one of the day’s most memorable lines: “Kids these days? Not these kids. Not these days.” His message was clear: Frisco students are talented, capable, and full of potential.

Dr. Fouche also emphasized his belief that every student should leave Frisco ISD future-ready, equipped not only with knowledge but with the skills, experiences, and confidence needed to succeed after graduation. Throughout his presentation, he emphasized the importance of ensuring that students are engaged and connected in meaningful ways, creating learning experiences that prepare them for life, careers, and continued education

It Takes a Community

Near the conclusion of his remarks, Dr. Fouche acknowledged that challenges will inevitably arise, but emphasized that Frisco ISD’s focus must remain on preparing every student for success and ensuring they are supported in meaningful ways along the journey.

For the business leaders in attendance, the message resonated deeply. The future workforce of Frisco is sitting in Frisco ISD classrooms today, and the success of our community depends on helping every student discover and pursue their own path to success.

As the luncheon came to a close, the energy in the room was undeniable. What began as a pep rally-like welcome for a new superintendent ended as a powerful reminder of what makes Frisco exceptional: students, educators, families, businesses, and community leaders all working together to prepare the next generation for success.

If today’s State of Education was any indication, the future of Frisco is in very good hands.

Higher Education Connection

In addition to student performers and participants, the Frisco Chamber welcomed a table of interns from the Frisco Talent Experience (FTE) program. FTE connects college students and young professionals interning in Frisco with opportunities to explore the community, build professional skills, and expand their networks while spending the summer here.

Earlier in the day, the interns participated in a networking workshop led by Dr. Trapper Pace, where they learned practical strategies for building professional relationships and making meaningful connections. They then had the opportunity to put those lessons into practice by networking with business and community leaders before attending the luncheon. It was a perfect example of how Frisco’s business community and educational institutions work together to help prepare the next generation of talent. Learn more about FTE.
