Nonprofit Directory / Nonprofit Profile
Our mission is to support those who have sacrificed so much for this country — all veterans and their families.
Since 1968, Frisco Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 8273 has been providing unique and urgently needed services that improve the lives of veterans, military personnel and their families all the while supporting positive citizen involvement for the betterment of the Frisco and surrounding communities.
Frisco VFW Post 8273 has over 350 members who are #StillServing through multiple community events throughout the year. Highlighted by the annual Memorial Day Observance Ceremony, Frisco Oktoberfest and Community Parade, as well as multiple educational engagements with local schools during the week of Veterans Day. The post annually awards scholarships through the Voice of Democracy Scholarship (grades 9 – 12) and the Patriot’s Pen Scholarship (grades 6 – 8) to deserving students. Additionally, the post serves veterans and their families through a variety of programs. These include offering aid, assistance and relief to local veterans and their families during crisis through the VFW Unmet Needs Program; assisting veterans and their families in the filing of their entitlement claims with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs; partnering with U.S. Veterans Service Dogs by sponsoring and placing trained dogs with deserving veterans; and the Walk of Honor at the Veterans Memorial in Frisco Commons Park.
All of our programs are non-political, at no cost to the veteran or family, and require no VFW-affiliation for assistance.
