The Frisco Chamber as a leader
As I was writing an earlier blog post, the 10 Characteristics of a Leader, I began to reflect on the role of the Frisco Chamber in the community. While often behind the scenes, the Frisco Chamber works hard to ensure that Frisco and the entire north Texas region remain pro-business. Whether we are meeting with elected officials or seeking to solve current challenges, we are leaders in this effort. And there is no better organization poised to be a connector and convenor in the community. Take a look at our key initiatives in our new Strategic Plan, being led by the Frisco Chamber team and our Board of Directors. I think you’ll see leadership at work!
How does the Frisco Chamber grow leaders?
We not only lead within the community, but we grow leaders, as well. Our Leadership Frisco program has graduated over 470 civic and community leaders over the past 25 years. This nine-month leadership development program educates class members on how to get plugged into the community by volunteering on boards (non-profit and city) and commissions and more. Many class members have gone on to run for City Council, Frisco ISD Board of Trustees, or higher offices. Graduates of the Leadership Frisco program can apply to sit on the Leadership Frisco Advisory Council to help bring up the next generation of leaders.
Other leadership development
Our Young Entrepreneurs Academy grows middle school and high school students into CEOs of real businesses. Frisco Young Professionals and Women Enhancing Business both develop opportunities for personal and professional development too. And all of these programs require leadership too…many individuals serve on the advisory council for these programs.
Our Ambassadors lead our ribbon cuttings and weekly networking event. We certainly could not do what we do without this bunch of lively volunteers!
The ultimate leadership opportunity!
Each year, we take a group of business and community leaders to another city or region to exchange best practices and foster new ideas. This group is intentionally kept small. We are currently researching several locations. If you desire to be a change-maker at this level, you’ll want to save your seat with a fully refundable deposit.
Serving the business community for over 50 years!
None of the efforts of the Frisco Chamber of Commerce have been done by anyone individual! It takes a village of leaders, coming together with one vision, to keep Frisco the thriving community that it is today!
The next time you see leaders in the community dive a little deeper to see how the Frisco Chamber of Commerce has contributed to its many successes. Here’s to the next 50 plus years!
