The Frisco Chamber of Commerce proactively looks for ways to meet the needs of both the business community and the residents that call Frisco and North Texas home. Education, transportation, infrastructure, legislation, and workforce continue to be some of the areas of focus for the Frisco Chamber of Commerce.
Having a healthy business climate as well as being the fastest growing city in the U.S. creates numerous opportunities but can also create a few challenges along the way. One of those challenges (or opportunities as we like to call them) is an abundance of newly created job openings, especially in the restaurant, retail, entertainment, and service industries. This challenge requires innovative solutions.
Last year, our Senior Service Alliance (SSA), a committee of the Frisco Chamber of Commerce, took the initiative to host a job and volunteer fair for the senior adult community, recognizing that active adults make outstanding and reliable employees and could serve to fill the shortage of employees in these industries.
This year, the SSA is doubling the amount of event space and the goal is to grow the number of vendor tables at this year’s 55+ Job and Volunteer Fair. The 55+ Job and Volunteer Fair will be held at Collin College Preston Ridge Campus on Tuesday, September 11, 2018.
This generation of seniors has a solid work ethic and many bring years of experience in a variety of industries that can be shared in their new roles. Senior adults can also serve as role models to younger, less experienced employees.
How does this impact you? As business owners, we know that filling these vacancies are critical to your success and growth. A well-satisfied customer will become a repeat customer!
The Frisco Chamber will continue to look for ways to creatively find solutions to “opportunities” that arise. In the meantime, if there is anything keeping you up at night as a business owner or leader, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Not only are we the “Voice of Business” in the community but also Kick A** Problem Solvers, too!
