Dawn of Mercy

Mission Statement

“Dawn of Mercy” offers emotional and spiritual healing to women and men harmed by sexual assault. Through a weekend retreat and ongoing trauma recovery support groups, we help survivors see the truth about their self-worth, and their goodness in the eyes of God, in order to live a life of joy, peace and freedom.

About Us

Dawn of Mercy offers emotional and spiritual healing to individuals harmed by sexual abuse or assault.

Our program offers a retreat in a safe environment for survivors of sexual assault to tell their story of trauma and to see the truth about their self-worth, dignity and goodness. The retreat addresses both emotional and spiritual healing using sound mental health practices. Along with the retreat is a trauma recovery support group (or Healing Group) for further understanding and healing of the total emotional and spiritual trauma caused by sexual violence. Together, the retreat and support group offer a great healing opportunity. Separate programs are offered for women and men and in English and Spanish.

Programs and Services

  • 2 programs and counseling options
    • 10-week Trauma Recovery Healing Group
      • Based on a Trauma Recovery model that focuses on the present effects (or reactions) of the trauma
        • Triggers, anxiety, fear, etc.
      • People suffering from trauma adopt unhealthy ways of thinking and acting.  During the 10-week program we help them recognize these reactions and teach them coping skills and tools to turn these unhealthy thoughts and actions into healthy ones.
      • 2 hours, 1 evening a week for 10 weeks
        • On-line (video conference)
  • 3-day healing retreat
    • Where the 10-week program focuses on the present – what’s happening now and providing coping skills, the retreat will spend some time on the past (their experience) and move them into the future through emotional and spiritual healing
    • It is a safe and secure environment where retreatants can share their stories and discover – or re-discover who they really are beyond the trauma of their assault
    • They will understand their dignity and identity as they move past living in their trauma, giving them a sense of who they really are – or who they want to become
    • 3 day weekend retreat in the Dallas/Fort Worth area

  • These programs do not replace their personal counseling, they complement it
  • We also have a list of counselors trained in trauma recovery that we can refer people to
