Upon announcing the retirement of Frisco’s first and only City Manager, George Purefoy, the Frisco City Council performed a six-month nationwide search and ultimately selected a candidate in our own backyard! Wes Pierson, former City Manager of Addison, dove into his new role as Frisco’s second City Manager on August 2, 2022.
What does a City Manager Do?
Under the direction of the Frisco City Council, the City Manager performs the duties of CEO in the administration of all services, affairs, and programs of the City of Frisco. Additionally, the City Manager acts as an advisor to the City Council in their work of enacting local legislation, adopting budgets, and determining public policy.
Past Experience
Hired as Addison’s City Manager in 2015, Pierson was named Assistant to the City Manager with the City of Allen in 2009. He became an Assistant City Manager in Allen in 2011 and was later hired as the Assistant City Manager in Corpus Christi in 2012. Pierson is very familiar with North Texas and the State of Texas.
Qualities as a Leader
Pierson has been described as a visionary thinker, servant leader, and a developer of talent, many of the same qualities seen in former City Manager George Purefoy.
