Community Launches $50,000 Campaign to Bring Permanent Shade to Hope Park
A community-led fundraising effort is underway to bring a permanent shade structure to Hope Park, one of Frisco’s most beloved and inclusive playgrounds. Leadership Frisco’s Class XXIX organizers have launched a $50,000 campaign to fund the installation, which will provide critical relief from the Texas heat and enhance comfort and accessibility for thousands of families each year.
Hope Park serves children of all abilities and is a cherished gathering place for playdates, birthday parties, and everyday family outings. However, limited shaded areas can make extended visits challenging, particularly during warmer months.
The proposed shade structure will create a cooler, more welcoming environment and extend safe play opportunities year-round. Adding a shaded area to Hope Park is a practical, high-impact enhancement that reflects the city of Frisco’s core values and commitment to inclusivity, family focus, and forward-looking growth. With community support and collaboration with the city, this project will significantly enhance the experience for families for years to come.
The structure will:
Reduce heat exposure for children of all abilities
Improve comfort and safety for caregivers
Support inclusive community gatherings and events
Kicking off the campaign, Class XXIX will host a community cornhole tournament fundraiser, Tossing For Hope, inviting residents and local businesses to participate or contribute. Proceeds from team registrations, sponsorships, and individual contributions will directly support the shade structure over the park.
Tossing for Hope will take place on Saturday, April 18, 2025, at 11:00 am. Community members interested in supporting the effort can donate online, register for the upcoming event, or learn more about sponsorship opportunities at tossinghopefrisco.com
