Developing our future workforce is important to us! Collin College is offering the following summer programs for middle school and high school students. You can find the complete list and more information HERE.

Nurse Camp
Monday-Wednesday, June 3-5
McKinney Campus, 2200 W. University Drive

For students interested in getting an inside look at the nursing profession, Collin College is hosting a free Nurse Camp. Open to students between 8th-12th grades, participants will observe demonstrations and participate in simulations from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Space is limited. Crime Scene Investigation Camp

Monday-Thursday, June 3-6; 1-4 p.m.
Frisco Campus, 9700 Wade Blvd., Founders Hall, Room F231

Participants will learn crime scene processing techniques. Campers will participate in various exercises that apply forensic techniques to the identification, documentation, preservation, and collection of various types of crime scene evidence to include: fingerprints, blood evidence, DNA, shoe and tire impressions, and search procedures. Mock crime scene activities and evidence are age appropriate and challenging. Campers entering grades 9-12 are eligible to attend. The cost is $100 per participant and includes snacks and a drink. Cybersecurity Camp (Co-ed)
Wednesday-Friday, June 12-14; 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Frisco Campus Conference Center, 9700 Wade Boulevard, Frisco Campus Conference Center

Want to know how hackers break into computers? Like to play with computers and electronics? Students between grades 7-12 will learn how people hack into computers and how to protect computer systems. This camp is sponsored by the Engineering, Technology and Computer Sciences Department. Cost is $99 and includes lunch. Spots are limited, registration fills quickly, and early registration is recommended.

Animation Technology Camp
Monday-Friday, June 17-21, 9 a.m.- noon
Plano Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway

The Department of Communication Design will host a new Animation Technology Camp this summer for campers entering grades 6-8. Campers will learn how to design and tell a story through animation technology and storyboarding. By the end of the camp, students will have created a storyboard, experienced cutting-edge animation technology, and created a short film. Students should bring their ideas and imagination to this camp, and no previous drawing skills are required. The cost is $150 per camper and includes hands-on instruction from Collin College faculty as well as a camp t-shirt.

Culinary Camp

Calling all teenage foodies! In this hands-on class, students between grades 7-10 will learn various culinary techniques from a chef in a commercial kitchen. Cost is $149 and includes a hat, apron, and food. Each student can invite two guests to a culinary event featuring delicious student creations. Early registration is recommended.

Are you ready to learn how to make delectable desserts that will impress your friends and family? Students between grades 7-10 will learn techniques from a pastry chef in a commercial kitchen. Cost is $149 and includes a hat, apron and food. In this hands-on class students will learn various pastry and baking techniques. Each student can invite two guests to a tea featuring delicious treats created throughout the week. Spots are limited. Early registration is recommended.

SMASH Camp

Find out why learning science is fun. Calling all middle school students for an exciting four, half-day summer SMASH camp.  Students can explore their potential in science/mathematics and learn about topics in biology, chemistry, physics, geology and math with fun, hands-on activities. This camp is designed with an interdisciplinary approach to give students a holistic view of how science works. Students entering grades 7-9 are eligible to attend. Cost is $80. Texas All-Star Jazz Camp
Monday-Friday, July 8-12 (registration/auditions July 7)

The Texas All-Star Jazz Camp features a flurry of daily workshops and rehearsals as musicians learn the world of big band jazz. Camp faculty includes top jazz musicians from around the country, who have played with big names such as Maynard Ferguson, Doc Severinsen, and Woody Herman. Each summer, the TASJC welcomes a guest artist for a clinic with the students and an evening concert. Students must be at least 13 years old with at least one year of study on their instrument. Young Artist Master Camp
Monday-Friday, July 8-12, 1-4 p.m.

The Young Artist Masters Camp will host amazing local artists/educators for a week-long summer art camp. Campers will learn about historical and contemporary master artists while creating their own studies investigating the theme of “identity.” A variety of techniques, mediums, and compositions will be investigated in media-specific studios to help each student find his or her artistic voice. Each media studio limited to 15 seats. An exhibition and reception are planned at the end of the week. Students entering 6th grade through 12th grade are welcome. The cost is $175 for the week, and supplies are included along with a camp t-shirt. Collin Summer Dance Festival 2019
Monday-Friday, July 15-19; 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

The eighth annual Collin Summer Dance Festival is for beginners to advanced dancers, 14 years old and up, and features workshops in modern, ballet, jazz, salsa, contemporary, musical theatre, hip-hop, dance improvisation and more. The cost is $125 for early registration paid by May 17 or $150 if paid between May 18 and June 30. Late registration is $175 on July 1 or after, may include limitations, and is subject to the festival coordinator’s permission. The Summer Dance Festival space is limited. Refunds may be given up to two weeks prior to the festival start date. Any requests made after that time will be charged a refund fee of $25. Photography Camp

Join Collin College’s faculty and staff for a week of immersion into the art of photography. During the camp, students will explore the studio where they will each make a professional quality studio portrait. Students will also be photographing on campus with instructors, learning the basics of photography software, and making their own photographic prints. The cost of the camp is $150 and includes all supplies they will need, including a camera. Each student will also receive a camp t-shirt. The camp is open to 6-8th graders. Girls’ Coding Camp

“Storytelling through Code: The World of Alice”

Come join us on a girls-only journey through the world of Alice. Alice is a graphical programming environment that allows us to create amazing animated stories. Create your own graphic novel using the programming concepts of sequencing, conditional statements, and loops. Campers entering grades 6-8 are eligible to attend. No previous experience is necessary; just bring your creativity. The cost is $99 per participant and includes snacks and a drink. Both camps will be held at the Frisco Campus Conference Center, 9700 Wade Boulevard.

Students between grades 7-10 will stimulate their minds and unleash creativity at the Summer Robotics Camps. These camps are sponsored by the Collin College Robotics Club and the Engineering, Technology and Computer Sciences Department. Cost is $99 and includes snacks and a drink.
