Dear Frisco Chamber of Commerce,
My name is Michael Blair, and I wanted to reach out to you – I started as the new Director of Governmental Affairs at the Frisco Chamber of Commerce on Monday, April 29, 2019. Nice to e-meet you!
A little about me – my background includes previously working for members of the United States Congress, the Texas Legislature, and Dallas City Council, serving both in roles as a policy advisor and as a campaign staffer. Although I am not a native Texan, I have lived all over the state, and I did graduate from Baylor University (Sic Em Bears) and now pay ridiculous amounts of money to be a football and basketball season ticket-holder. I currently live in Dallas with my Golden Retriever-German Shepard mix named Collins, but I absolutely will be relocating to Frisco in the fall. At the Frisco Chamber, we believe that advocacy is the single most important thing that we do. There is power in working together, and the people who show up and engage with their elected officials are the ones who get listened to. As a business community, it isn’t always easy talking about the issues that impact us. But we have just as much at stake in the conversations that happen in Washington DC and Austin – as well as Denton County, Collin County, Community College, School District and City levels – as anyone.
The Frisco Chamber works for you, but it works best when we partner with you. The Chamber is working to identify members that will help with grassroots advocacy and are interested in contributing to the Governmental Affairs efforts. I need to know what issues are keeping you up at night. This letter will work to start a consistent dialogue. What I would ask of you today is that you click here to give me a little more insight into you, your company, and the issues that impact your business. I am also scheduling tours of businesses in order to get a better idea of the bigger picture in Frisco. Please shoot me an email or give me a call if you would like me to come see what you’re doing.
I am hitting the ground running – I’ll be in Austin this week in order to build relationships with our state lawmakers. Keep your eyes on Frisco Chamber’s social media to see what we are up to.
Moving forward, the Governmental Affairs team will send a weekly update to keep members informed about our efforts. The goal is to make sure that membership is aware of the issues that matter to you and your business.
I can’t tell you how excited I am to be joining the Frisco Chamber of Commerce. This is such an amazing part of the state; I am really looking forward to being able to wake up every single day and advocate with you, to make sure that Frisco remains the best city in Texas (and America) to do business, live, and raise a family.
