Nonprofit Directory / Nonprofit Profile
Our mission is to restore the athletic potential and overall well-being of underserved student-athletes by funding all or a portion of medically necessary orthopedic surgeries, treatment plans, and rehabilitation services that would otherwise be financially out of reach. We believe every young athlete deserves a chance to heal, recover, and thrive—both on and off the field.
The STAR Foundation for Athletic Recovery was created to ensure that no young athlete’s future is compromised by the high cost of medical care. Founded by FISD student-athletes, former Division I athletes, and healthcare professionals, our nonprofit provides financial assistance for medically necessary orthopedic surgeries, physical therapy, and rehabilitation services to student-athletes who are uninsured, underinsured, or face significant financial challenges. We partner with local school districts, orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, and community sports organizations to identify students in need and build custom recovery plans that promote a full return to sport.
In addition to treatment funding, STAR also invests in preventative education through workshops and outreach events in schools to teach injury prevention, early intervention, and wellness practices. Our vision is a future where every young athlete—regardless of financial circumstance—has access to the care and support needed to recover, rebuild, and reach their full potential.
