Metro Relief is a strategic mobile outreach organization relentlessly pursuing solutions for those experiencing homelessness. On any given night, over half a million people in America experience homelessness. We are committed to reducing this number through a mobile-first approach that ensures that our homeless friends receive the resources they need and deserve. We focus on long-term solutions, addressing the root causes of homelessness and promoting sustainable change within individuals.
Our street outreach teams venture into these hidden places to build essential relationships and provide a comprehensive range of solutions. We have collaborated with local municipalities and law enforcement to assist in locating these individuals, facilitating access to critical services like obtaining replacement IDs, which pose a significant barrier to receiving social services.
Street outreach is a challenging yet rewarding endeavor that ensures we connect with people who might never seek help on their own. We believe every person matters, and we will always search for those who need assistance. While getting someone off the streets rarely happens overnight, our case managers often spend months -sometimes years- walking alongside our homeless friends to help them find stable housing. They are relentless.
Historically, case managers have worked with clients from a single location in inner cities. To expand our reach and make a greater impact, we have adopted a mobile case management approach. This innovative strategy allows us to visit our homeless friends in their encampments, providing them with the support they need. It also ensures that we remain flexible and adaptable while maintaining a high level of follow-up. Our case managers actively engage with clients, assisting them with medical appointments, rehabilitation programs, and helping them secure apartments once they are accepted into housing initiatives. One of our greatest joys is witnessing the transition of our clients into permanent housing.
Every Friday and Saturday, we take our Metro logo bus out to build relationships by providing food, clean water, socks, and hygiene kits to our friends on the streets. Our bus outreach is an added resource that involves community volunteers, highlighting our consistency and building trust.
Since 2013, we have served 105,500 meals, provided 1723 vital documents, and assisted 1766 individuals off the street. In 2023, Metro Relief successfully rescued 220 individuals from chronic homelessness into safe, secure, accountable housing. In 2024, we provided 601 vital documents and we were able to house 162 of our homeless friends. Volunteers have spent over 18,000 hours serving with our team, through bus outreach and assembling hygiene kits. We have provided 3700 community service hours each year.
