It’s the most wonderful time of the year—time to welcome our newest teachers to Frisco ISD!
On July 29, 2024, the Frisco Chamber of Commerce and Frisco ISD helped welcome the district’s newest teachers. Many teachers were new to teaching altogether, while some were new to the school district but not to teaching. In either case, there was a definite excitement and enthusiasm in the air.
Fulfilling Dreams
Imagine a former high school athlete, now thrilled to be a head football coach, standing alongside a recent college graduate inspired by her parents, both teachers, to follow in their footsteps. Many of these new educators are Frisco ISD alumni, returning to teach in the very district that shaped them.
The New Teacher Welcome is a showing of appreciation, showcasing the community’s dedication to education.
At this event, teachers enjoyed lunch donated by supportive local businesses, explored over 50 vendor tables, and filled their bags with fun swag. Door prizes donated by local enterprises topped off the event, adding a bonus to their first day.
First-hand Appreciation
Christal Howard, President/CEO of the Frisco Chamber of Commerce and a proud parent of two Frisco ISD students, warmly addressed the new teachers.
“We are excited to embrace these new teachers, who will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in shaping our students and our future workforce,” said Howard. “This event is always such a moving representation of the way our community comes together as ‘Team Frisco’ to make and keep this the best place to live, work, and raise a family. The support from our local businesses for our school district and educators is truly inspiring and speaks to Frisco’s collaborative, can-do culture.”
From a Business Perspective
Joining Howard on stage was Frisco Chamber Board Chair Chad Sterling, President of Altair Global. Since relocating its headquarters to Frisco in 2019, Altair Global has strongly supported Frisco ISD. Sterling brought a team of enthusiastic volunteers to support the event and help welcome the new teachers.
Frisco's Secret Sauce...Partnerships!
Adding to the day’s excitement, Mayor Cheney made a surprise appearance and spoke passionately about the partnership between the City of Frisco and Frisco ISD. Sharing a personal story about a teacher who significantly impacted his life, Cheney highlighted educators’ profound influence on shaping future leaders. He also emphasized that the high quality of Frisco ISD is a major draw for families and businesses moving to Frisco.
Dr. Mike Waldrip, Superintendent of Frisco ISD, and Dynette Davis, President of the Frisco ISD Board of Trustees, welcomed the district’s newest employees and expressed appreciation and encouragement.
CoServ's Commitment to Education
CoServ, a strong supporter of education, once again stepped up as the presenting sponsor of the Frisco Chamber’s New Teacher Welcome. Known for its oversized yellow highlighters, which teachers love to receive, CoServ also provides invaluable grants and programming to educators.
